Lucie Bourgeois

Canada Associate

Lucie founded Umalia with a fundamental belief: that the societal purpose of a company and its
pursuit of profits can and must go hand in hand. In a context where businesses are seeking to innovate, differentiate themselves, stimulate employee and stakeholder engagement, Umalia creates sustainable business and social value through corporate societal engagement and multi-sector partnerships.

Lucie brings more than 20 years of executive leadership in large multinationals across Canada and internationally in the areas of strategic planning, change management, human resources and corporate social responsibility (CSR). She has led multiple wide-scale global transformations within the Information Technology, Telecommunications, Insurance and Health industry.

Today, she works with organizations from diverse sectors (private, public, not-for-profit, multilateral development and academia) on strategies, programs and shared value partnerships that deliver impactful business and social transformations, locally and globally in North America, Africa and South America.

Lucie has a unique talent for aligning strategic and societal goals of organizations and for fostering engagement among decision-makers and a variety of stakeholders throughout the corporate societal engagement continuum (community investments, responsible business practices, shared value creation). Her innovative approach integrating change management principles and stakeholder participation into all interventions provide the right foundation to ensure the sustainability of strategies implemented.

Lucie holds a Master's degree in Management from the Hautes Études Commerciales and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations from Université de Montréal, in addition to being certified in change management, an affiliated partner of the Shared Value Initiative network and a graduate from the Helios Executive Institute.

She has been involved for many years with several non-profit organizations and has collaborated on volunteer projects in North and South America, as well as in Africa. She sits on the boards of non profit organizations, including the Board of Directors of the Fédération Humanité et Inclusion (Lyon, France), the Leadership Faculty of the Conference Board of Canada's Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Institute (Ottawa, Canada) and was a previous member of the Advisory Board for the Shared Value Initiative (Boston, USA).
