Jayne Atherton

Jayne Atherton is a highly networked governance professional, experienced board recruiter and Chartered Company Secretary specialising in advisory and the interface dynamics between board and executive teams. A former journalist, senior Editor and newsroom leader, she has a special interest in business sustainability, ESG and climate change response in the wider corporate governance context.

Jayne has a decade of experience in board advisory and evaluation with a focus on chair and director appointment processes reflecting present and future business objectives and cultural fit, performance review and board and executive reporting advice and training.

Her experience spans NZX listed entities, private companies, councils and governmental organisations, family offices, social enterprises and not-for-profits.

She has a previous 20-year background in media as a senior news and business journalist in the UK and NZ, leading storytelling on all platforms, including print, broadcast, web and social media
Jayne has an LLB (Hons)(First Class), an LLM in Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability and a diploma in International Corporate Governance which powers her passion for embedding good governance practices and understanding across company boards, executive teams and the wider workforce.

John Wadsworth

John Wadsworth is an accomplished public- and private-sector leader whose career spans economic development, tertiary education, and executive-leadership development. Now Managing Partner of specialist retail-sector consultancy ieRetail and strategy firm Strategy Facilitators, he focuses on turning insight into sustainable, profitable growth across economic cycles.

John’s impact is evident in two transformative appointments. At Waitakere Enterprise he implemented the Single Organizing Idea, repositioning and energising the agency to rank #1 in the public sector, #2 among small organisations, and #3 overall in the JRA Best Places to Work survey. Later, as Dean of Business and Information Technology at Manukau Institute of Technology, he lifted the faculty from 17th to 1st in national educational-performance rankings by championing Māori and Pasifika learner success under the guidance of Dr Ranginui Walker.

Kiri Goulter

Kiri Goulter is an internationally respected strategist and adviser in sustainable tourism, destination management, and stewardship. A former CEO, experienced board director, and public sector leader, she brings a proven track record of embedding purpose and stewardship into governance, strategy, and operations across national, regional, and local levels.

She has led transformational initiatives in Aotearoa New Zealand, including shaping the country’s destination management agenda, authoring the national Destination Management Guidelines, and leading an award-winning programme that strengthened the leadership and strategic capability of New Zealand’s regional tourism sector.

Kiri is known for navigating complexity, aligning vision with action, and building trusted relationships across government, industry, and communities. Her bold, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach draws on systems thinking to deliver integrated strategies that create lasting value.

Through her consultancy, Kiri draws on 30 years of experience in tourism and economic development to support governments, destinations, and tourism stakeholders to design and implement place-based strategies that deliver meaningful outcomes for communities, the environment, and the economy.
Internationally, she contributes as both a thought leader and practitioner, supporting destinations and organisations to realise the full potential of their core purpose. Her work with NG&A reflects a shared belief that placing purpose at the centre of strategy is key to achieving long-term, positive change.

Grant MacDonald

Grant MacDonald is an award-winning creative director and technologist with over 25 years of experience turning purpose into powerful brand experiences. Following senior agency roles and the launch of his own studio, Creative Dept, he has helped organisations across sectors—from digital technology and advanced manufacturing to maritime, professional services, property, and elite sport—sharpen their brand stories, deepen engagement, and deliver measurable growth.

As an Associate at Neil Gaught & Associates, Grant brings visual communication craft, UX discipline, and AI-informed insight to the Single Organizing Idea (SOI®) framework. His focus is on translating an organisation’s articulated purpose into cohesive identity systems and intelligent digital communications. He actively explores AI systems and adaptive design techniques to streamline production while preserving creative integrity.

Working alongside the NG&A team, Grant shapes creative briefs and leads multidisciplinary teams—designers, developers, and copywriters—through concept to execution. Known for his relentless attention to detail, he pushes every project beyond expectations—refining, questioning, and perfecting until the outcome meets his uncompromising standards of clarity, craft, and impact. His hallmark is clear, cohesive storytelling that threads purpose through every touchpoint, from brand identity and systems to interface micro-interactions.

An ever-curious observer of behavioural sciences and the arts, he draws on a wide range of influences to create work that resonates both culturally and commercially. Based in Auckland, Grant balances client work with ongoing experimentation into how design and emerging technologies can drive meaningful, purpose-led change.

Tonia Cawood

Tonia Cawood is a purpose-led leadership and culture performance coach facilitator and strategist and experienced Chartered independent director and chair.

Her career spans business environments where purpose, pressure and people matter – across high-performance sport, governance, leadership and culture development, strategy, brand, philanthropy, major projects, and stakeholder engagement. She brings a practical understanding of what it takes to perform in complex, high-pressure environments and is skilled at helping leaders and organisations make the invisible visible working with boards, executive teams and leaders to create clarity, strengthen capability and build alignment around what matters most.

Her work combines strategic rigour with deep human insight. With commitment to enabling sustainable success from clarity of purpose, strategy, commercial discipline, human connection and courageous leadership – she brings together head and heart, insight and action, and purpose and performance to help leaders get clear, lead with conviction and coherence.

Tonia is skilled at going to the heart of the matter, the surfacing the patterns, tensions and opportunities that either constrain or accelerate performance.

At Tonia’s core, her purpose is to be the wind in the sails for leaders and organisations – enabling pride, purpose and wholehearted high performance, and helping create healthier, happier and more connected communities.

Kirsty Meates

Kristy Meates is an executive leadership coach, facilitator and leadership development specialist with more than twenty years’ experience helping individuals, teams and organisations unlock higher levels of performance through stronger leadership.

Based in New Zealand and working across both New Zealand and Australia, Kristy coaches CEOs, executives, senior leaders, government agencies, NGOs, universities and private sector organisations. Her work focuses on improving leadership capability, team dynamics, communication, accountability and organisational culture.

Known for her ability to challenge and support in equal measure, Kristy helps leaders develop the self-awareness, behaviours and interpersonal skills needed to build high-performing teams and navigate complex organisational environments. Her coaching approach is grounded in the belief that sustainable organisational success begins with personal transformation and purposeful leadership.

Kristy is New Zealand’s sole Master Trainer for Crucial Dimensions, delivering internationally recognised programmes that strengthen communication, accountability, influence and workplace relationships. She is accredited in a range of leadership and behavioural assessment tools, including Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Human Synergistics, DISCflow, FIRO-B and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

Holding both a law degree and an MBA, Kristy brings a rare combination of commercial insight, behavioural expertise and practical leadership experience to her work. Her passion lies in helping leaders create cultures built on trust, respect, accountability and high performance.
